Contract: 6-month contract with the possibility of extension/renewal
Hourly Rate: $25/hour for 10 hours per week ($1000.00 every 4 weeks)

Alcove Centre for the Arts

Alcove Centre for the Arts is a nonprofit organization based in Calgary, AB with the aim of making art more accessible and to promote a vibrant arts sector.

We run a Recreational Art Space in downtown Calgary (244 7th Ave SW) where we host a range of artistic activities including workshops, events, and a drop-in art space that is open to the public with art supplies and instruments available for free. We also organize and take part in events outside of this space regularly. Alcove’s arts programs cover a wide range of mediums including visual arts, music, textiles, crafts, creative writing, and more.

Purpose:
Alcove Centre for the Arts is seeking a highly motivated Fund Development Coordinator to support the creation and implementation of a sustainable funding system for our nonprofit arts organization. This role will focus on finding alternative funding sources to supplement traditional grant funding, with an emphasis on sponsorships and fundraising initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Executive team to develop and execute an effective funding strategy, with a focus on Sponsorships and Fundraising

  • Build relationships with existing and new stakeholders.

  • Help strategize innovative ways for our organization to sustainably generate revenue and manage our operations efficiently.

Must Have Skills/Experience:

  • Proven experience working in a nonprofit/charity environment, ideally in a fund development role

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive long term relationships with stakeholders and funders

  • Experience drafting proposals, sponsorship packages, and other relevant materials for sponsors and funders

  • Resourcefulness and adaptability

  • A desire to support Calgary’s local arts sector!

Nice to Have:

  • Demonstrated success in securing funding for an organization or initiative from both public and private sector sources.

  • Experience with grant writing/reporting.

  • Experience with drafting budgets.

  • Experience with online nonprofit/charity platforms such as Benevity.

  • Experience with Business/Organizational Development

Work Conditions:

  • During the 6-month period, you will:

    • Help develop a fund development strategy and system to acquire public and private sponsorships and/or fundraise

    • Lead the execution of the new fund development plan

    • Successfully acquire at least one new sponsorship or funder

  • Our Operations Team currently operates in a hybrid model with flexible arrangements to work remote. Fully remote candidates will be considered, however candidates residing in Calgary are preferred.

  • Independent work style with regular check-ins with the supervisor and executive team

  • You must have your own laptop or personal computer.
